PITCH N' PUTT GONE TO POT? |
Anyone visiting the mini-golf course in Hall Lane, Upminster, will have been disappointed as the facility resembles a neglected open space rather than a course for budding golfers to enjoy the recreational facility.
The mini-golf course has been shut this year awaiting repair works to the greens while establishing management arrangements.
Cllr Clarence Barrett (Cranham, RA) said: "This is the only mini-golf course in Havering and is a facility that should now be available to our residents. I have had many enquiries from residents asking what is happening and it is a disgrace that this marvellous facility has been left to deteriorate to such an extent that it now requires extensive remedial woks.
"The appearance of the course is far from satisfactory, with damaged fencing, an antiquated hut and a general appearance of neglect.
"With the summer season upon us, this is a facility which should be a well used and fully promoted to get the best use out of it. As it stands, the course is hardly ever advertised, on-one is sure when it is meant to be open and it looks like a disused field.
"While there have been efforts to rectify the situation, we are concerned that the situation has not been resolved far sooner."
Cllr Gillian Ford (Cranham RA) added "This is a perfect school holiday activity that young and old alike could enjoy given the opportunity."
